VBHydrology only shares information relating to flows of the Vaal Dam and Vaal Barrage Reservoir, and is not responsible for the management of any hydrological aspects of the Vaal River System.

The operation of dams and reservoirs with their associated flows and releases is the sole responsibility of the national Dept. of Water & Sanitation (DWS) of South Africa.

DWS will decide as and when releases are made from dams and reservoirs in the system. When any such information in this regard is available, it will be shared here.

Information is shared on behalf of Rand Water (Vaal Barrage Reservoir) and Dept. Water & Sanitation (Vaal Dam). Not all abstraction and evaporation losses from Vaal Dam are reflected in the data.
