Still two gates open at 3m each, but one gate will be reduced to 1m by 12H00 this afternoon.

Water releases from the Sterkfontein Dam to augment water levels in the Vaal Dam.

Water users and the general public along the Wllge River and the Nuwejaarspruit are hereby requested to please take note that water releases from Sterkfonlein Dam to augment Vaal Dam are to take place from the Sterkfontein Dam when Vaal Dam reaches the minimum operating level of 18%.

Vaal Dam has been dropping at a rate of between 1.5% – 2% a week and ls expected to reach 18% by 23 December 2024. During the water releases, water levels in the river channels will rise. It Is recommended/advisable that members of the public avoid low lying bridges and remove all pumps by 15 December 2024.

On Monday 4 November 2024, the river outlets at Vaal Dam will be closed from 8:00 to 16:00 for mechanical inspection. No water will be released into the river. If inspections are completed earlier, a notification will be sent out.
